The Route (1)

This is an idea route if you’re walking with others, as you can go off scrambling while they take an easier route to the top, but you can meet half way up to join them!

Follow the miners track as it snakes around the valley edge, and towards the Snowdon ridge. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the base of the scramble.

The Scramble

At the centre of the image above you may be able to see a dark line that moves slightly left and then right. This is a small stream, and the surrounding rocks provide a more exciting way to join the Pyg track above.

The photo below is a close up from the bottom of the scrambling route.

Choose whatever route you like on your way up, being as cautious of adventurous as you feel comfortable with!

When you reach the top, you will have to fork right to meet with the Pyg track path, which should be visible from the top.

From here simply follow the Pyg track to the summit of Snowdon, and descend whatever route you like.

The Y Gribin and the East Ridge represents the most exciting scrambling walk to get to the summit of Snowdon, a fantastic adventure for those with a head for heights!

Y Gribin is the rocky spur that rises from Glaslyn to Bwlch y Saethau.

When combined with Snowdon’s East Ridge this gives an excellent day that delivers you right out onto the summit.
